Scholarships
Educational costs continue to rise and it is the desire of the Loveland Schools Foundation to assist young and promising scholars to become better community members through assistance with their education beyond high school. To this end, the Foundation offers scholarships to graduating seniors. The number of scholarships and the amount of money given vary from year to year. Some are career specific and others are more general. Scholarships are presented in May at the Senior Awards Night.
All scholarship giving is based on academic qualifications, the character of the applicant, service to the community, determination to complete the course of study chosen and need. For all scholarships, when criteria has been met and is equal, financial need is the determining element.
While the Foundation recognizes that a strong academic background is conducive to success in a higher education program, members of the Board of Trustees also recognize the needs of students attending a two year college program and technical schools. Therefore students interested in furthering their education in any capacity beyond high school are encouraged to apply for one of the Foundation scholarships which does not specify a particular major.
Students should check with the guidance department at the high school beginning in early to mid January for the posting of Foundation scholarships which will be given that year.
Mini Grant ProgramSince 2001, the Foundation has offered yearly mini grants to the faculty and administrators of the district. At the beginning of second semester, the faculty is provided applications for these grants and are encouraged to request needed items and innovative classroom items which can not be purchased through the normal school budgetary channels. These items may include but are not limited to classroom speakers, supplemental reading materials, field trips, alternative seating such as Wiggle Seats, ball chairs and comfortable and flexible environmental furniture, small musical instruments and equipment.
Distinguished Alumni AwardsThis program honors those Loveland graduates who have used their Loveland Schools education to significantly contribute to their vocation, avocation and/or their community be it local, national, or global, to enhance the lives of others. The program strives to share with the current student body, employees and the community the quality of graduates that the Loveland City School System produces – graduates who have demonstrated their leadership and excellence in their professional and personal lives.
To date the Foundation has inducted 30 graduates who exemplify the qualities listed above. Applications for this award are accepted throughout the year.
Applications for nominees are accepted throughout the year with the deadline for an application to be considered for any given year being April 15.
